No, the rescue dogs will not be making a special appearance in costumes.

Baseball is a great summer pastime but let's face it, the Nats are pretty damn awful this season. Instead, why not go to a basketball game -- 'cause, seriously, pretty much no one around here gives our women's basketball team enough attention. Tonight's Washingtion Mystics game against the Chicago Sky gives support to D.C. Fire and EMS technicians who train urban search-and-rescue dogs.

The Verizon Center event is hosted by local resto Equinox, and for a minimum donation of $100, you can enjoy floor seats, food and drinks. The fancy-schmancy ticket price will also include autographs from your favorite players, appearances by rescue dogs and your very own gift bag (can anyone say doggy treats?).

Those interested in buying tix can e-mail equinoxrestaurant@gmail.com.
