If you are considering adopting a cat or dog, today's the day to do it.
The Vola Lawson Animal Shelter in Alexandria, Va., is waiving adoption fees on all animals for Black Friday only. Those fees can run up to $150 for a dog and $120 for a cat.
The day's events include a surprise guest and gift baskets for the first dog and cat adopted today.
The shelter also opened its doors earlier than normal in hopes of getting more animals adopted. It opened at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.
The shelter is at 4101 Eisenhower Ave.
