Habitat: Komodo dragons are mostly found on Indonesian islands.
At the zoo: The zoo is home to one male komodo dragon. He is eight feet long and weighs 150 pounds.
Zoo history: The Smithsonian National Zoo became the first outside of Indonesia to hatch a komodo dragon in 1992.
Bet you didn’t know... Komodo dragons are endangered in the wild. No more than 3,000 are estimated to live in Indonesia.
