RuPaul will be the headline act at this year's Capital Pride Festival, according to organizers of D.C.'s annual gay pride event.
Officials with Capital Pride Alliance said RuPaul will close out the main stage entertainment at the annual street festival on Pennsylvania Avenue June 14.
RuPaul first gained international attention in the early 1990s with the dance single "Supermodel (You Better Work)." She currently hosts "RuPaul's Drag Race," a reality television series on the Logo channel.
D.C.'s Capital Pride celebration runs from June 5 to June 14. Organizers said this year's event gives a nod to the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City, which many consider the birth of the modern gay rights movement.
