If you hear cannons go off between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. today, it's only practice for the main event, the Twilight Tattoo spectacular happening tonight in Frederick, Md.

The firing of the black powder cannons is part of the hour-long military pageant featuring Soldiers from The 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own."  The Twilight Tattoo starts at 6 p.m., with a half-an-hour of pre-event music starting at 5:30 p.m.

There will also be performances by The U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange, The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team.

The event, which is being hosted by Fort Detrick, The City of Frederick and Fort Detrick Alliance, is free and open to the public.  For more information, visit usagpao@amedd.army.mil or call The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development at 301-600-6360.
