Free Shuttle Coming to Atlas District

With the recent surge of new businesses popping up in the Atlas District, something had to be done to address the transportation issues.

Starting this month, a free shuttle will begin service connecting all of H Street to two Metrorail stops. The route will run from Gallery Place Metro at H and Seventh streets NW and will connect riders to Minnesota Avenue until the Metro closes, Jen DeMayo at the Hill Rag reported.

Anyone who works and plays in the H Street area knows that it can be a chore to get to and from that street. There's no Metro stop and buses can be unreliable. I've taken cabs to and from the Rock and Roll Hotel, with the average fare costing about $8 one way. That's not exactly a great deal plus cabs can be hard to find late night.

The shuttle will have a "soft-opening" later this month to determine routes and timing. During the "soft-opening", the general public is welcome to ride and encouraged to offer feedback.
