We wonder if the founding fathers did yoga to unwind after a stressful day of drafting the Constitution. Well, they should have.

Kick off Independence Day with a complimentary yoga class at Past Tense (3253 Mt. Pleasant Ave. N.W.). The brand-new yoga studio, located in a renovated row house, is hosting a free, hour-long, mixed level class with an emphasis on the hatha style. Hatha yoga is a purifying form of yoga that combines physical poses with purification riutals, breathing exercises and meditation.

Owner and instructor Kelli DiNardo is opening up the shop on Independence Day just one day -- this is your chance to get an exclusive sneak peak at Past Tense before its official opening July 13.

The complimentary class will take place this Saturday, July 4 at 10 a.m. Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis -- so make sure to make reservations (they're required) now by e-mailing info@pasttensestudio.com.

Here's to a peaceful, centered Fourth -- that is, until the sparklers and fireworks start cracklin'.
