Are you ready for the big digital conversion?

 

Can I hook up more than one TV and video recorder to a single digital-to-analog converter box?

You’ll need one digital-to-analog converter box for each TV set or other device (such as a VCR) that only has an analog tuner. The digital-to-analog converter box basically replaces the analog tuner in one piece of equipment. So if you want to use your analog TV and VCR at the same time (for example, to watch one program and record another simultaneously), you will need two digital-to-analog converter boxes.

  • Jane Friday, Jun 19 at 1:36 PM FLAG COMMENT I live in a 7 story apt building with a roof top antenna and even though I have a flat screen TV with a digital tuner I can only get stations 7, 11 and 13. Why is that?
  • narkspud Saturday, Jun 13 at 10:14 PM FLAG COMMENT sprevete - It depends on what sort of inputs and outputs your equipment has, and whether your converter boxes have analog passthrough. You'll probably need a few more wires and an antenna splitter to feed the signal to both boxes. As to how to get both the box and the VCR to go to the TV ... there are just too many variables to answer that over the internet.   • flo Saturday, Jun 13 at 8:57 PM FLAG COMMENT Before the transition, using the converter box, I was able to watch both NBC & CBS, but no other stations. Now that the transition has occurred, I can get only the other stations, but not CBS or NBC. Why is that and how do I remedy it?
