Hakem Dermish is a producer and reporter for NBC4's award-winning sports department. He also serves as a fill-in anchor on the weekend editions of News4 at 6 and News4 at 11.
Dermish joins WRC from WTVG in Toledo, Ohio, where he spent two years as a sports reporter/anchor. Prior to that, he worked in WLUC's sports department in Marquette, Mich., where he received a Merit Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
A native of Kent, Ohio, Dermish was interested in sports at a young age. He aggressively pursued a career in sports journalism while earning a degree in Media Communication from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. During both his junior and senior years, Dermish was named Television Personality of the Year for his work on his college's countywide cable newscast.
Dermish has freelanced for sporting events around the country, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the Kentucky Derby, the Indy 500, the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup and numerous other events for ESPN, CBS and NBC.
Dermish lives in Washington, D.C.
