Dan Hellie is an anchor and reporter for News4 Sports and co-hosts Redskins Showtime and the Jim Zorn Show, which air during the football season.

 

Hellie has deep roots in the Washington area.  He was raised in Gaithersburg, Md., where he played football, baseball and basketball for Magruder High School.    He met his wife, Anne, at Magruder, and they now have two children, a girl and a boy.

 

Hellie was born in the Philippines, where his parents were serving in the Peace Corps.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee and landed his first broadcasting job in Alexandria, Minn.  Following that, he worked in Florence, S.C., West Palm Beach, Fla., and, most recently, Orlando, where he anchored the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts weekdays and hosted SportsNight 9 on Sunday nights.
