COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland football team is waiting for a bowl bid.

By losing their final two regular season games, the 7-5 Terrapins are in a six-way tie for the fifth position among bowl-eligible teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Maryland, however, defeated four of those five other teams and did not play the fifth -- Miami.

That showing should be good enough for fifth-place in the conference, coach Ralph Friedgen said. He said Sunday the Terps were not being considered for either the Gator Bowl or the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

Maryland appears to be a candidate for five bowls: the Meineke Car Care, Champs Sports, Emerald, Gaylord Hotels Music City and Roady's Humanitarian bowls.
