Jason Taylor surprised a pee wee football team with a check to help them get to the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando.

MANASSAS, Va. -- The Manassas Mutiny Pee Wee football team is heading to Orlando this weekend for the Pop Warner Super Bowl thanks to a couple of Washington Redskins.

Jason Taylor surprised the team at its practice at Falls Church High School Wednesday night, delivering a check for $5,000, signing autographs and giving the team of 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds a pep talk.

The team was still $5,000 short, though, so when they heard about that, Chris Cooley and his brother and partner-in-blog Tanner matched Taylor's donation.

  • Panther fan Friday, Dec 5 at 6:43 PM FLAG COMMENT After 30 years teaching, mostly in middle school and serving with my daughter's band booster club, I am amazed that adults would not support young people who apparently have done a good job, no matter what their adult leaders may or may not have done.
  • are you serious? Friday, Dec 5 at 4:46 PM FLAG COMMENT These kids are going to Florida to defend their title. Instead of cheering for them to come back as champs, we adults worry about the money that "you" are not even donating. Kudos to those kids and I hope they win. One more note: schools have homeless kids, so we should never donate to anything else except for the homeless kids? What a stupid comment.
  • former ball mom Friday, Dec 5 at 2:30 PM FLAG COMMENT No, I don't donate to Florida trips for football. Our school has homeless students that need and get my financial as well as emotional support.
