If the Wizards make a four-game West Coast swing and no local newspapers are there to cover them, do the losses still count?
Well, as long as Comcast's television duo of Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier are suffering through the Ls, you have to figure they'll go down in record books.
But as far as Wizards beat reporters from both the Washington Post (the soon to be departing Ivan Carter, who is leaving print for television...go figure) and the Washington Times (Mike Jones), the money just wasn't there to send them romping through Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Denver.
Both scribes cite budget issues for not being on the road trip. But what's the real reason? Is it "in this economy" or "this team is crappy"?
If the Wizards were in the playoff conversation, would these money hemorrhaging entities dig deep in their pockets to satisfy the DMV's thirst for a winner? Most likely.
Until then, Wiz fans, be satisfied with box scores, perhaps a couple of blogs, and the March Madness which may yield a prospect such as Blake Griffin who could resurrect the franchise from its death bed.
As for the print media, all the No. 1 draft picks in the world might not be able to resuscitate.
