Hampton Hands George Mason First Loss

Kwame Morgan led Hampton with nine points, as nine players scored for the Pirates in their 50-44 win against George Mason on Thursday night.

Michael Freeman and Donte Harrison each scored eight points to lead the Pirates (1-1), who hit 11 of 22 free throws and capitalized on 23 turnovers en route to victory.

Louis Birdsong led the Patriots (2-1) with 15 points, and Darryl Monroe chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. The Patriots were 2 of 17 from behind the arc.

After trailing 21-18 at the half, George Mason tied the game at 33 with 9:17 to play. Hampton went on a 17-11 run from that point, sealing the win for the Pirates.
