Zachary Kiesch is reporter with NBC4’s Prince George’s County Bureau.

Kiesch’s journalism career began while he was studying at Ohio University, where he served as a backpack journalist for the on-campus PBS station. He attended college on a football scholarship, and his interest in sports led him to the sports desk at WMNS-TV in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He worked there for two years as both a sports and news reporter.

After moving to Washington, Kiesch joined NBC4 in an off-air role. Working hard to perfect his writing and broadcasting skills, he began shooting and writing feature stories for News4’s award-winning sports department.

Kiesch also produced periodic episodes of District Matters, a 30-minute community affairs program that has received regional recognition.

Mentoring youth has always been important to Kiesch. He started a
non-profit afterschool program to teach athletics and media training to inner-city youth . He currently also runs a weekly mentoring program at KIPP Public Charter School.

A native of Minneapolis, MN, Kiesch now lives in Washington, DC.
