Erika Gonzalez anchors the weekend editions of News4 at 6 and News4 at 11 and also covers consumer news for News4.
Gonzalez joined NBC4 in 2011 from her native state of Texas where she was the morning anchor at KEYE-TV in Austin and also contributed to the Telemundo station there. Prior to that, she was an anchor and Executive Producer at XRIO-TV in Rio Grande Valley.
Since arriving in Washington, Gonzalez’s stories have taken her to Boston to cover the bombing at the marathon, Moore, OK after tornadoes ravaged parts of that region and El Salvador to investigate ruthless gangs and their ties to this area.
She began reporting for the News4 Consumer unit in May 2014 and added weekend anchoring one year later.
Gonzalez holds a degree in Communications from the University of Texas Pan American where she graduated Cum Laude. She is an alumna of Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority Inc.
When not working, Gonzalez’s interests are mainly being on the go. She has been a certified Zumba instructor, a first degree black-belt in Kung-Fu and a runner, finishing her first marathon in May of 2011. You can also find her at our region’s salsa clubs.
