Iran Suspends Soccer Players For โ€œImmoralโ€ Butt Squeeze

Both fined $40,000 for gesture after goal score.

What would they say about American football players? Iran indefinitely suspended and fined two of its soccer players because one teammate squeezed the other's behind as a gesture of victory.

Persepolis defender Mohammed Nosrati was fined $40,000 for the "immoral" grab of teammate Sheys Rezaei backside while celebrating a goal win on Saturday, Agence France-Presse translated from Iranian state television. Rezei was also suspended and fined the same amount, although he swat's the smacker's hand in the video (below).

"What happened is absolutely not acceptable because it was a very ugly thing," said Jalal Yahyazadeh, a cleric and member of parliament, according to Reuters.

Nosrati, Razaei and other players leaped and hugged each other after the goal was made. Another two teammates can be seen hugging and kissing after the score.

Both players said the gesture was made in the excitement of winning and inisisted it was inoffensive. But authorities in the Islamic Republic was outraged.
