Woman on Driver's Lap During Car Crash

It’s apparently more than just smartphones distracting drivers. It’s also women sitting on their laps.

A Marion, Va., man crashed his pickup truck head-on into an SUV on New Year’s Eve. We don’t know if Mickey Ray Poston was wearing his seatbelt at the time, but police say he had something else on his lap: Rhonda Michelle Hess.

"Only they know what they were doing; we can’t speculate on that," said State Police Sgt. Steve Lowe. "As to what they were engaged in, you can draw your own conclusions. She was on his lap; we’re going to leave it at that."

Poston and Hess were airlifted to the hospital but have since been released. The driver of the SUV, who’s a game warden at Hungry Mother State Park, suffered minor injuries. Poston has since been charged with drunken driving and reckless driving.
