But now there's a way for you to acknowledge your grief over his election defeat last year and Public Schools Chancellor Rhee's subsequent resignation.
Zazzle.com is selling "I Miss Fenty" bumper stickers, tee-shirts, caps and other items. There's stuff with Rhee's name, too.
The new merchandise is the brainchild of a District voter who only wants to be known as "Jaded in DC."
"Jaded" talked to NBC Washington Friday afternoon at the Tenleytown Metro stop. He asked that we not use his real name, show his face or describe any characteristics that would indirectly identify him. So on the accompanying broadcast version of this story, you just see his sneakers.
"It's important to me," he said, explaining that the merchandise should serve as a reminder to Mayor Vincent Gray to do a better job.
Under Fenty, the city made great progress, despite the mayor's tin ear when it came to city politics, "Jaded" said. He got the idea to sell the stuff when he became frustrated with the Gray controversies over hiring and government SUVs.
Will "Jaded" ever give Mayor Gray a chance? "Of course," he said. He just wants Gray to step it up a bit.
