Foursquare Now Allowing Check-ins From Space

Foursquare, the popular social networking tool, is now accepting check-ins from out of this world.

Foursquare, a phone application that "gives you and your friends new ways of exploring your city," took that concept to a whole new level Friday.

NASA announced that astronaut and International Space Station Commander Doug Wheelock became the first Foursquare user to check in from space.

NASA said the check-in was part of a new partnership between NASA and Foursquare. NASA said it hopes the partnership will help to connect Foursquare users with the space agency.

"Check-ins from around the world have been cool, but this blew my mind!" said Dennis Crowley, CEO and co-founder of Foursquare told NASA. "We're psyched to partner with NASA to help users explore the space program and the universe."

NASA said that when Foursquare users visit NASA venues, they will now be able to access official NASA information about that venue.
