Elderly couple booted off Queen Mary 2 after fight

An 82-year-old Broadway producer and her 91-year-old husband were kicked off the Queen Mary 2 after getting into a heated argument with a fellow passenger at a black-tie dinner, according to a report in the New York Post.

Gloria Sher and Frederick Evans reportedly got into a shouting match with a dining companion who, the couple claims, made an anti-Semitic remark.

Sher said a fellow cruiser told her to shut up, and said, "There are too many Jews on board," the Post reported.

Sher, who is Jewish, told the paper that she became angry, saying, "F**k you!" and "How dare you insult me!"

The next morning, the couple said the ship's captain informed them they would have to leave the ship.

"I was treated with no respect and unbelievably rude and shockingly terrible," Sher told the paper. "I've been sick ever since. It has ruined our lives. It changed us forever."

Evans said the captain refused to listen to the couple's account.

Sher and Evans were partly to blame, one passenger told the Post, saying Sher sometimes gets belligerent when drinking.

Another passenger, Fred Bangasser, said the couple was "treated without appropriate dignity."

Sher and Evans were allowed to remain on board until the QM2 returned to New York, but only after they agreed to stay in their room.

Cunard, the cruise line that operates QM2, released a statement, saying, "Sir Evans and Lady Sher engaged in multiple incidences of disrespectful and disruptive behavior towards crew members and other guests," the Post reported.

The statement added that Cunard "fully supported" the captain's decision.
