Florida Passes Bestiality Law
Sex with animals officially illegal in Sunshine State

The much-discussed bestiality bill which makes it illegal to have sex with animals finally passed in Florida today.
The state Senate voted 38-0 to pass the law, a pet project of Sen. Nan Rich, a Sunrise Democrat, who couldn't believe Florida allowed man-beast love.
"This is long overdue," Nan said in March. "These are heinous crimes. And people belong in jail."
The new law makes it a third-degree felony to engage in bestiality. The bill passed with no discussion or debate, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Florida had been one of 16 states without laws against having sex with animals.
In pushing for the law, Rich cited cases of bestiality including a Panhandle man who was suspected of accidentally asphyxiating a family goat during a sex act and the abuse of a horse in the Keys.
