Country Ready to Remember JFK 50 Years Later

This week marks the 50th anniversary of assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Cities around the country are remembering the somber moment with presentations, speakers and events.

In Washington, D.C., the Newseum is hosting a JFK Remembrance with authors, journalists, and filmmakers on Friday. On Wednesday at the Arlington National Cemetery, President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at Kennedy’s gravesite.

In Dallas, TX, crews are setting up for a special tribute in the downtown area and at Dealey Plaza, the place where Kennedy was shot and killed.

For a compelling glimpse into the events of that dark day, NBC has launched the JFK50 app in iTunes. The app offers access to extensive and rare archival video as well as retracing Kennedy’s route on that fateful day.
