The Washington Redskins hired Joe Barry as their new defensive coordinator, News4's Dianna Russini confirmed.
Barry, who coached the San Diego Chargers' linebackers since 2011, replaces Jim Haslett, who mutually agreed to part ways with the Redskins at the end of the season.
Remember Joe Barry had the inside track from the start. Worked with Bruce Allen. #Redskins

He has been a defensive coordinator before, for the Detroit Lions in 2007 and 2008.
In addition to Barry, the Redskins interviewed San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell; former Bills, Broncos and Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips; former Jets and Browns head coach Eric Mangini; Redskins secondary coach Raheem Morris; and former 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who agreed Monday to a deal with the Chicago Bears.
Interested to see if the Redskins decide to keep Raheem Morris on staff.
