The next D.C. sports superstar worked out for his probable new employer Thursday at the Verizon Center's practice court.
John Wall, the likely No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, spent time with coach Flip Saunders and GM Ernie Grunfeld, made some free throws and threw down a few dunks and finished it off by twittering that he "just got done workin out...Went well!!"
Some more analysis from Kyle Weidie at Truth About It:
Wall’s workout started around the 11 am scheduled start time and the media was allowed to enter not too long after 11:20. It was a much more brief workout than the usual hour-plus reserved for other players. And honestly, Wall looked kind of winded by the time we saw him. He would later divulge in his interview that his back had tightened up on him.
After the workout and tweet, Wall's focus turned to ... Barack Obama.
Wall had already challenged the president to a game of HORSE in January -- and was declined -- but that didn't stop him from renewing his efforts Thursday.
"Hopefully I'll get picked by the Wizards," Wall told the media, according to the Washington Post. "And if I do, yeah I want [Obama] to come to the games. But before that, I want to play him in that game of HORSE. I challenged him to a game of one-on-one and HORSE, but as the president, I guess he backed down. He didn't want to play, so I'll convince him into that first and then invite him to some games."
