Donte Stallworth, took an early exit from a Miami jail this morning after serving 24 days of a 30-day sentence for DUI manslaughter. He was released early for good behavior.
NFL star Donte Stallworth walked free this morning from a Miami jail, getting out six days early for good behavior.
The 28-year-old Cleveland Brown wide receiver had no comment as he walked out of Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after serving 24 days of his 30-day sentence for DUI manslaughter, according to justnews.com.
Stallworth will begin his 10-year probation, starting with a two-year house arrest under a plea deal he reached with prosecutors. The NFLer will also have to perform 1,000 hours of community service and will never be able to drive again under the deal.
Stallworth struck and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes with his Bentley after a night of clubbing in Miami Beach in the early hours of March 14. Stallworth had a blood alcohol level of .126 when the accident occurred, well over the legal limit of .08, and tested positive for marijuana in his system. Stallworth told police he had four tequila shots earlier in the night, but didn't feel impaired when he got behind the wheel.
Reyes, a construction worker, was on his way home after working overnight. Stallworth told a 911 dispatcher that Reyes had jumped in front of his car.
The football star has repeatedly offered his condolences to the Reyes family, who he reached a confidential settlement with to avoid a civil trial.
Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL, and his future with the league is uncertain.
