Skins Hire Offense Whisperer

Offensive consultant brought on board

WASHINGTON -- With the Washington Redskins' offense struggling, the organization has hired Sherman Lewis as an offensive consultant.

Lewis has been out of the game for about five years, but he's considered an expert on the West Coast offense.

The hiring is an unconventional move that former Redskins General Manager Charley Casserly called the kiss of death for head coach Jim Zorn, who, you may recall, got his job when no one else would take it.

Lewis was Mike Holmgren's offensive coordinator at Green Bay from 1992 to 1999. Holmgren, by the way, isn't coaching anyone right now.

Redskins Executive Vice President Vinny Cerrato said he proposed the idea of bringing in Lewis and head coach Jim Zorn was on board.
