How's a man supposed to live on just $92.5 million?
The good news about having a bloated $100 million contract, as Albert Haynesworth is finding out, is that when someone sues you for $7.5 million, you don't really have to sweat.
He's being sued by Corey Edmondson, the man who claims Haynesworth ran him off the road last December.
The Tennessean reports the details of the incident:
The collision occurred Dec. 13 on Interstate 65 near Concord Road in Brentwood. Police said Haynesworth was driving a black Ferrari. Witnesses said the Ferrari was moving quickly in and out of lanes, passing cars and traveling more than the posted 70 mph speed limit. Haynesworth attempted to pass Edmondson, who was driving a 1999 Mercury Marquis.A police report states that Haynesworth was unable to pass Edmondson and the Ferrari made contact with the Marquis, causing the vehicle to slam into a concrete barrier.
The man's lawyer says that his client has had two surgeries -- including a hip replacement -- and that the 400-pound man who was "once light on his feet" now has trouble moving around. (Out of respect for the victim, you'll have to supply your own Skins O-Line punchline.)
Medical bills are up around $1 million after all is said and done.
Edmondson's lawyer intimates that his client is upset at Haynesworth's sense of remorse -- he should consider himself lucky for not getting stomped in the face with a cleat.
Edmondson's attorney, Jonathan Perry, said Haynesworth has refused to accept responsibility for the accident, has not apologized, contacted or visited Edmondson."In short, Haynesworth was intentionally and selfishly driving like a maniac and he has wreaked havoc on the life of a 25-year-old man and his family," Perry said. "Even if he refuses to voluntarily accept responsibility, Haynesworth will be held responsible for this accident through the legal system."
It probably won't be long before Danny Boy figures out a way to market a portion of your ticket purchases being tax deductible for the Haynesworth Legal Defense Fund.
