Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn and Denver Broncos miracle worker Tim Tebow would be a match made in Heaven.
Alas, Vonn said Internet rumors that the two have a Rocky Mountain romance are not true. She's taken a page from the second-year quarterback and son of missionaries, striking his prayerful pose after winning the World Cup Super-G on Wednesday. But don't take the rumors as gospel, she says.
“I am single. I’m not with anyone,” Vonn, 27, said. “I’ve heard a lot of rumors and a lot of reports.”
Girlfriend, no. But fan? Oh, yes! Yesterday, after Tebow led his team to yet another dramatic comeback, Vonn gushed about the 24-year-old star.
“He’s proving them all wrong,” Vonn said. “In a way, that’s what I’m trying to do as well — to be able to compete under any circumstance and keep fighting and doing my best every day. Just because I `Tebow,’ doesn’t mean I’m dating him. I said that if I won in Colorado, I would `Tebow’ because I admire what he’s doing."
The pair also appeared together in July at the ESPYs, where Vonn extended an invitation to Tebow to "come up to Vail and ski," according to her blog. Last weekend, she met Tebow's brother, Robby, at the Super G race in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
"I pretty much know their whole family now," Vonn wrote in a column for the Denver Post. "They're great people. It's pretty awesome to be able to hang out with them — and to be able to witness the amazing things Tim and the Broncos can do."
Vonn is from Minnesota, but lives and trains in Colorado, where Tebow has led the Broncos to a 7-1 record since taking over as the starting quarterback. Vonn won the downhill gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics and has won three straight World Cup championships.
