Runner-Up Olympic Cities: Are they Back for the Bid?

Boston's bid to host the 2024 Olympics is over, and Los Angeles appears to be the new front runner for the bid. Only seven weeks remain before cities have to be officially nominated, and officials in San Francisco and Washington D.C. are also expected to make a push.

Here's what we know about each runner-up U.S. city:

Los Angeles

Los Angeles has almost all their venues already intact, and could bid with a couple years notice. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said in an interview he would be happy to discuss with USOC how to present the strongest and most fiscally responsible bid on behalf of Los Angeles and the United States.

Washington D.C.

DC Council member Jack Evans said he and other member of the DC2024 plans to reach out to the USOC to express their interest in hosting the 2024 Olympics. The original plan proposed using venues in D.C., Maryland and Virginia including Nationals Park and RFK Stadium.

San Francisco

A source told NBC Bay Area it was too late for San Francisco to submit a bid that could win.
