When it comes to the Redskins vs. the Cowboys, at least two Virginia stations are not choosing the home team.
The Fox affiliates in those two markets have chosen to go with Eagles-Cowboys over Skins-Chargers on Sunday afternoon, D.C. Sports Bog's Dan Steinberg reports.
Both stations made the decision apparently in response to angry Redskins fans, Steinberg notes.
Rader even posted this on the station's web site:
We have always appreciated our loyal and passionate Redskins fans here in Hampton Roads, however on this particular weekend, we have determined that airing a game of the magnitude of the Eagles/Cowboys will be in the best interest of all NFL viewers.
Of course, with the Redskins out of the playoffs, it might be a monetary move more than a fan-based consideration. After all, as Rader also writes, the NFL changed their schedule and moved the Philadelphia Eagles/Dallas Cowboys game to 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, creating a scheduling conflict with the Washington Redskins/San Diego Chargers game, which also starts at the same time.
And who wants to watch the losers when they can keep up with who'll clinch the NFC East title?
