The slumping economy has forced the Washington Redskins to lay off a number of employees.

Officials said a small percentage of the team's workforce was laid off or accepted buyout offers.

The team will not confirm an exact number, but the Washington Post reported that the Redskins laid off at least 20 employees at Redskins Park and an undetermined number at FedEx Field.

The team said the job cuts will not affect football operations or the fan experience.

No coaches, trainers or scouts were let go, the Post reported.
