Domestic Violence Charges Against Ray Rice Dismissed: Judge

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice’s domestic violence charges have been dismissed after he completed a pre-trial intervention program.

Judge Michael A. Donio in Atlantic City, New Jersey, confirmed to NBC News that the charges had been dismissed.

Under terms of the program, Rice paid $125 in fines and received anger management counseling.

Rice was charged last year in New Jersey with assaulting then-fiancee Janay Palmer. He was captured by a surveillance camera knocking Palmer unconscious in a hotel elevator.

Videos released by TMZ showed him pulling Palmer out of an elevator at the Revel Casino Hotel after he struck her.

Rice won the appeal of his indefinite suspension by the NFL after an arbitrator ruled last year that Commissioner Roger Goodell's indefinite suspension of Rice was an "abuse of discretion." Rice has yet to sign with a team.

In February, Rice said the pre-trial intervention program would give him "a refreshing start."

"This year has gone by really fast. It's been a year since the incident," Rice said to The Baltimore Sun. “Once May comes, I'll be moving into my new house and I'll sort of feel like a free man by then. You're back to a fresh slate."
