The Raiders stuned the draft room Saturday by taking Maryland wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey with the No. 7 overall pick instead of top-rated receiver Michael Crabtree.
Heyward-Bey, of Silver Spring, Md., is all about speed. He ran a 4.3 in the 40 at the combine, and it appears that was enough for Raiders owner Al Davis, who loves speed.
The McDonogh High School grad had 42 receptions for 609 yards and five touchdowns his junior season.
The Raiders stunned war rooms on draft day by taking Heyward-Bey ahead of Crabtree, the flashy receiver from Texas Tech. Crabtree eventually went to San Francisco at No. 10.

Va. Tackle Goes To Jags
One pick after Heyward-Bey was selected, the Jaguars picked Virginia tackle Eugene Monroe at No. 8.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder is an outstanding pass blocker.
Dunbar Grad Goes to Miami
Dunbar High School grad Vontae Davis was selected No. 25 overall by the Miami Dolphins.
The Illinois defensive back is the younger brother of former Terrapin Vernon Davis, who was taken No. 1 by the 49ers (6th overall) in 2006.
