Raiders' McClain Held on Assault, Gun Charges

Cops said McClain fired a gun near someone's ear.

Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain has been criticized for his actions on the field this year, and he may soon be questioned for his actions off, too.

Oakland's middle linebacker was reportedly at the scene of a fight Wednesday evening in his native Alabama when gunshots went off, according to the Decatur Police Department.

McClain has been arrested as part of the investigation.

"I can tell you that Rolando McClain is under arrest," said Lt. John Crouch of the Decatur Police Department. "He’s been charged with third degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in city limits. He is still in custody."

Officers responded to the call in the 1000 block of Skyview Street and found one person who had been injured in a physical altercation, according to the police department.

The unnamed victim refused medical treatment at the scene and drove himself to the Decatur General Hospital Emergency Room where he was treated and released.

The person told police that he had been in a fight with a man named Jerradius Willingham. The man was bleeding from the nose and mouth when officers arrived, according to police reports.

The man said following the fight he crawled to his car where McClain allegedly walked over and put a gun to his head, according to reports.

The victim told police that he begged McClain not to shoot him and that the Raiders' player moved the gun away from his head and held it next to his ear before firing it, according to police reports.

McClain is currently being held in the Decatur jail until his bond of $2,000 is paid. Willingham has been charged with one count of assault in the third degree and has been released on $500 bond.

The Raiders gave McClain time off after the death of his grandfather.

This is not the first time McClain has been involved in a gunfire incident in Alabama. In February, shots were fired at McClain's car in Decatur. He was uninjured in the incident.
