If at first you don't succeed, try again. If you still don't succeed, go ahead and take a knee.
Washington Redskins two-time All-Pro defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth did not practice with the Washington Redskins for day three of training camp after failing conditioning tests on Thursday and on Friday. Haynesworth did not attempt the conditioning test today, the AP reports.
New Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan is requiring Haynesworth to pass the test before he can participate in team practice. Haynesworth missed the team's entire offseason and conditioning program -- but did pick up a $21 million bonus.
Haynesworth does not appear to be happy about taking his licks. Asked late yesterday whether he thought he was being treated unfairly, Haynesworth told reporters, "I don't really give a [expletive]."
According to another reporter, Redskins general manager Bruce Allen's response to a question about whether he was disappointed by Haynesworth was curt: "No."
Is that because Allen knows that coach Shanahan has Haynesworth's number? Haynesworth kicked off the Shanahan era by resisting Shanahan's new 3-4 defense. Shanahan appears to be pushing back. If he's unable to pass his conditioning test soon, Haynesworth may find himself wishing he hadn't butted heads so publicly with his coach.
