Hall and Haslett Have “Contentious Exchange” Over Coverages

A new defense implemented by a new coordinator is bound to encounter some hiccups, and Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall isn't exactly shy about expressing his opinions -- he already had one mouthy outburst after the Texans game in which he declared his intention to disregard Jim Haslett's game plan and cover any team's best receiver.

He later retracted those statements, but apparently, he's done it again, this time earning himself a trip to Mike Shanahan's office and a public finger-pointing in a team meeting.

Hall got into a "heated exchange" with Haslett over pass coverage schemes Tuesday after watching film from the loss to the Colts, according to three team employees speaking on condition of anonymity to Redskins Insider.

Two of the sources said the argument hinged on Hall generally feeling that he was receiving mixed signals about how to play a particular pass coverage, but the angry duo have a good relationship and shouldn't experience any residual fall-out.

Still, head coach Mike Shanahan had a private conversation with Hall, who gave up a 57-yard touchdown to Pierre Garcon in the game, and in a team meeting Wednesday morning mentioned him specifically with regards to improving communication between players and coaches.

With any luck, he meant adding jello and a camera to future disagreements, and not actually talking things out like adults. The least the 3-3 Redskins can do is be entertaining.
