Greg Anthony, CBS Basketball Analyst, Charged With Solicitation

Metropolitan police confirmed CBS basketball analyst Greg Anthony was arrested Friday evening and charged with soliciting a prostitute in Washington, D.C.

Lt. Kelvin Cusick said the 47-year-old former NBA player was released later on Friday. He will face a misdemeanor solicitation charge that’s punishable by up to 180 days in jail.

Police said the arrest was part of an undercover operation in the 1500 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW. At least 14 others, including Anthony, were arrested during the operation.

According to the NCAA website, Anthony was scheduled to announce the Michigan State-Maryland men's basketball game Saturday in nearby College Park, Maryland.

Anthony was suspended indefinitely by CBS following his arrest on solicitation charges. A CBS spokeswoman says "Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season."

He released a statement on Saturday, saying, "I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry."

The guard played 11 seasons, with six teams, from 1991-92 to 2001-02, including the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers.

He averaged 7.3 points per game over his career.
