Gator-gate Leads to Firing

Dan Snyder may not be getting an office makeover after all

We were all surprised to read a story yesterday that Redskins owner Dan Snyder had just dropped $600,000 on a couple of alligator skin office desks and matching chairs. Perhaps no one was more surprised than Snyder himself.

It turns out that story isn’t true. Snyder doesn’t even have an office at FedEx Field, according to the team. And now the person who came up with the story doesn’t have a job.

The New York Post broke Gator-gate yesterday. Now, it’s reporting that the furniture store where the alleged furniture was bought – Giorgio’s Palm Beach in Manhattan – has fired the employee who made the claim.

“I never use the names of my customers and my employee lied,” owner George Sharoubim said. “She has been terminated from the company.”

We’re all crying crocodile tears!

At least Snyder is keeping a sense of humor about this whole thing.

"I don’t even own a pair of alligator shoes,” he wrote in a press release yesterday.
