Forbes: Washington, D.C. Ninth-Most Miserable Sports Town In America

If you became a resident of Washington, D.C. within the last 20 years, then you have never seen one of the major local sports teams -- sorry, D.C. United and Kastles, who several Redskins thought played lacrosse or baseball or not tennis -- win a championship.

Not since the 'Skins won the Super Bowl in 1992 has there been a chance to celebrate a title (in fact, in the last 20 years, only one team has even made a conference final, that being the 1997-1998 Capitals, who were also the last team to compete for a championship).

Man, when you put it in writing, it looks and feels so much worse.

Anyway, the reason why I bring up these painful memories is because Forbes released a list of the "Most Miserable Sports Cities" and our fair city came in at No. 9. The list was completely subjective -- the only criteria was that the city had to have at least 75 seasons of combined MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL experience -- but still.

In 239 total seasons among the Redskins, Wizards, Nationals, Capitals and both iterations of the Senators, there have only been seven championships won. Ouch.

Okay, so it's been a little while -- okay, a long while -- since one of D.C.'s teams have been able to parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, but things are looking up, right? Right?!
