H-1 hydroplanes returned to the D.C. area for the first time in more than 30 years.
The special event was part of an exhibit held at the National Harbor in Maryland.
A group named the Air National Guard Racing series plans to bring hydroplane racing back to the Nation's Capital in 2012. The last race in the area was held in 1977.
H-1 hydroplanes are the world’s fastest racing boats, capable of reaching speeds of 200 mph.
The four boats shown today will be on display at the National Harbor through Sunday.
