D.C.'s Most Dangerous Job

Soon it'll be a job nobody wants

The three most dangerous jobs in America:

1) Alaskan Crab Fisherman
2) Spinal Tap Drummer
3) Redskins Running Back

Ladell Betts, who finally got his chance to shine as the Skins' lead running back, is down for the count.  After going down in yesterday's game with the Cowpokes, Betts is about to head to the IR list.

He's out for the year with a torn MCL and ACL.  One of 'em is bad enough.  Tear both, and you can probably whirl your knee around like a helicopter blade.

The team also announced that Clinton Portis will miss yet another game from the concussion he suffered.  He's definitely out for Philly, but Coach Zorn said they haven't yet made a determination for the Saints game that follows.  At this point, they're not prepared to shut him down for the season.

So where does that leave the Skins?

There are three running backs on the roster: Rock Cartwright, Mike Sellers and Quinton Ganther.  As they did when they brought Ganther up, they're likely to dip back down to the practice squad, bringing back pre-season superstar Marcus Mason.

And with Chad Rinehart out with a broken leg, the line reinvents itself yet again -- after finally appearing to have developed a sliver of consistency.

The injuries never seem to stop for the Skins; it's a good thing Vinny's developed such depth on the roster.
