Reports: Howard Missed Game for Hangover

New Wizard comes with plenty of baggage

The baggage continues to pile up for new Wizards forward Josh Howard following his trade from Dallas.

Howard has had a history of off-the-court problems, and now a new report adds another.  Several Web sites, including ESPN.com and Deadspin, reported that Howard missed a Mavericks game on Jan. 20 against the Wizards because he was allegedly hung over. The game started at 7 p.m., and the team at the time said it was a stomach illness.

Howard did not start another game for the Mavericks before he was traded Saturday in a package deal for Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson.

In 2008, Josh Howard went on a radio show and admitted he occasionally smoked marijuana. Another time after a Mavericks loss, Howard reportedly passed out fliers to his birthday party.

During the summer, he was arrested in North Carolina for street racing.

Video also popped up on the Internet showing Howard not respecting the National Anthem at a charity flag football game. He said, "I don't celebrate this [expletive]. I'm black."

Now we will see if Howard is on his best behavior for the rest of the season. The Wizards hold the option of cutting Howard and his $11.8 million contract loose after the season.
