"A Heartfelt Goodbye" Not a Mistaken Posting
Redskins Insider is moving on

Redskins Insider Jason La Canfora is leaving The Washington Post, but unlike columnist Marc Fisher, he's moving over to the NFL Network.
Alert NBCWashington.com reader Dinesh Bahadursingh confirmed that La Canfora accepted a position with the network to replace Adam Shefter, who left there to work for ESPN.
It seems Sportstalk 980 reported the news on Friday, but we -- who are not regular Sportstalk 980 listeners [and I cannot speak for everyone at this site, of course] -- knew nothing about this disturbing development in the world of Washington sports until catching this post on Google reader:
A Heartfelt Good-bye
When we kicked this blog off just before the 2006 season, I'm not sure anyone had lofty expectations. I was eager and happy to explore a new forum to try to post breaking news as quickly as possible, share a little bit of myself and, best-case scenario, entertain on occasion. We ended up building a cool little community that became very dear to my heart. Sure, we had some dust-ups from time to time, but Redskins Insider became in some ways an extension of myself, and that the fact that so many of you guys put a little bit of yourselves into it has always blown me away, and always will. Even those who chose to use the comments section to blast me still took the time to write, and the readership, support and friendship so many of you granted me will always stay with me. So it is not...
But when we clicked over to read the rest, that was all he wrote. (Or rather, the ol' "error" message page was all we got.)
After scouring the WashPost's site, we finally found this comment by JohninMpls:
Shakeup over at Redskins Insider could lead to a Svrluga promotion. Jason La Canfora is going over to the NFL Network, leaving a pretty big vacancy on that beat.
Barry seems like the natural successor, but that will still leave a vacancy to be filled (his own).
You ready for a promotion, Chico? It's really just reporting on a different embarrassingly awful front office. Only the hours are shorter and the office is bigger.
So thank you, Dinesh and JohninMpls. For now, it looks like it is indeed the end of Redskins Insider. We wish La Canfora the best with his new gig.
And later, we'll just go home and weep...
