State of Confusion in Maryland

Gov. O'Malley's State of the State rescheduled -- again

This time, they say it’s really going to happen.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s office has scheduled his annual State of the State address for noon on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

The speech was originally slated for Wednesday, but that’s when President Barack Obama is delivering his State of the Union address. O’Malley’s office pushed the date back to Feb. 4 out of deference to the president. However, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is now scheduled to be sworn in as Baltimore mayor on Feb. 4.

O’Malley, a former Baltimore mayor himself, stepped aside once again and rescheduled his address for Feb 2.

The Baltimore mayor swearing-in popped up at the last minute because Rawlings-Blake is replacing Sheila Dixon, who announced her resignation earlier this month as part of an agreement she reached with prosecutors following an embezzlement conviction.
