It's early yet, and it may be nothing more than wishful thinking, but a Virginia Republican Party graphic touting a party fundraiser with Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Gov. Bob McDonnell looks almost like a presidential ticket promo.
State Republican Chairman Pat Mullins sent the invitation Wednesday to the Sept. 14 lunch in Richmond to Republican activists across the state.
Tickets start at $55 apiece, but those who give $2,500 or more get to be photographed with Perry, who is running for president, and McDonnell, who says he'd be interested in being a 2012 vice presidential running mate.
There were no replies to telephone messages left for Mullins or for McDonnell's political adviser, Phil Cox.
