Papa Bush to Skip Ted's Funeral

All other living ex-presidents expected, Bush says son will rep family

The elder President Bush and former first lady Barbara will not attend the funeral for Sen. Ted Kennedy, saying their son will represent the family.

All of the other living former presidents, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush will be at the service in Boston Saturday morning. President Obama will deliver the eulogy.

A spokesman for Bush said he and Barbara decided not to attend Kennedy's funeral after learning their son is going.

Jim McGrath says the 85-year-old Bush feels his son's presence would "amply and well represent" the family Saturday.

Bush released a condolence statement on behalf of him and his son immediately after Kennedy's death. It was part of a stream of fond remembrances issued by Republicans.
