O'Malley Calls Negative Ad “Tactical Mistake”

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said his negative radio ad linking his opponent to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was a "tactical mistake."

O'Malley, a Democrat, made the statement Thursday on WTOP's "Ask the Governor" program. O'Malley's ad called former Gov. Bob Ehrlich a lobbyist and linked him to the spill. It also criticized one of Ehrlich's votes in Congress, saying he had "voted with big oil" though in fact the measure being discussed had wide bipartisan support.

O'Malley continued to accuse Ehrlich, a Republican, of being a lobbyist.
