Jay Newman, vice president and general manager of WJZ-TV, said the hour-long debate will take place Oct. 11 at the studio. It will be moderated by WJZ anchor Denise Koch and will be taped at 10 a.m. for broadcast at 7 p.m. that night.
The format will include opening and closing remarks from each candidate, and segments devoted to key issues.
Newman said the Baltimore Jewish Council will sponsor the debate.
Ehrlich spokesman Andy Barth said the campaign believes the format will produce a good and informative debate.
Rick Abbruzzese, O'Malley's campaign spokesman, said he hopes there will be more debates.
