Maryland's Republican caucus leaders are calling for an investigation into the removal of an internal document on the state's economy from a state agency's website.

Delegate Anthony O'Donnell and Sen. Allan Kittleman sent a letter to the Legislature's presiding officers on Wednesday requesting that a legislative committee be formed to investigate.

They want to know why the document that gave a gloomy assessment was pulled from the Maryland Department of Labor and Licensing website on Aug. 20.

Alex Sanchez, the department head, has said the department mistakenly posted the internal document that was to be used as part of the process of writing a report and was never meant to made public.
